Community Engagement Modules Aligned with Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC)

This series of community-centered, interactive materials was developed for West Africa Blue’s project in the Sherbro River Estuary in Sierra Leone as part of the Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) process. They have also served as a foundational tool for community engagement efforts in Guinea.

The modules cover key topics related to blue carbon projects, including an introduction to climate change, the importance of mangroves, an overview of blue carbon credits, and the carbon project development process.  Each module is supported by a step-by-step facilitation script to guide clear and consistent communication of the content. Infographics are also included as visual tools to support understanding and engagement alongside the modules.

These materials are intended to be adapted to local contexts prior to use.
