Max Mayer

Blue Carbon Associate

Max is a Blue Carbon Associate at West Africa Blue, which he joined in 2022. His work is wide-ranging, across the full project cycle, including feasibility analysis, spatial and satellite assessments, carbon accounting, financial modelling, fieldwork, activity development and certification processes. He has worked extensively in Sierra Leone and Guinea, contributing to scientific carbon stock analysis and government and community engagement.

He recently graduated with Distinction from the University of Edinburgh Business School with an MSc in Climate Change Finance and Investment, focusing on mitigation outcome assessment and marginal abatement costs of mangrove conservation interventions. He previously earned a BSc in Management Science from University College London, with a minor in Ocean Engineering, and partnered with The Ocean Cleanup on research modelling marine plastic pollution.
