Sona is the Community Relations Manager for West Africa Blue in Boffa, Guinea. In this role, she supports the planning and implementation of community engagement and awareness activities across the company’s mangrove restoration areas.

Prior to joining West Africa Blue, Sona worked with the National Agency for Local Government Financing as a Community Technical Support Officer. She began her career with the Village Communities Support Program, supporting community mobilization, participatory assessments, local development planning and annual investment programmes in Tamita, Tougnifily and Douprou. She also monitored community microprojects and strengthened the capacity of local management and oversight structures.

Sona has extensive experience helping communities engage with local and central government, integrate natural resource management into development plans and adopt practices that reduce forest degradation. She has also trained community organizations in sustainable natural resource management and supported rural municipalities in managing contracts with service providers.
